9 Must See Places

1. Pokhara

Pokhara is a 15 min bus ride from Kathmandu and a great destination to spend a few days. Here you can see stunning scenes of mountains, go on outdoor adventures, eat delicious food, and take a boat ride on Phewa Lake. 

2. Gorkha Palace

Gorkha Royal Palace, built for the Shah Dynasty king, is located upon a hill and takes about 2 hours to climb the 1700 steps. Once you reach the top you will be greeted with panoramic views of the Himalayan valley below. Gorkha Royal Palace is located between Kathmandu and Pokhara. 

3. Bodhnath Stupa

Bodhnath Stupa is one of the most sacred places in Nepal for Buddhists. Traditionally used for mediation, religious ceremonies, and as a holly place to store shrine objects. Bodhnath is located just outside Kathmandu. 

4. Bardia Nationa Park

Bardia National Park hosts a wide range of animals including hippos, elephants, rhinos, and Bengal tigers. Take a safari here and witness an immense untouched natural world. 

5. Langtang National Park

Langtang National Park located on the north side of the Kathmandu Valley. Spend 11 days exploring the rugged outdoor nature of the Himalayan region. See lakes, Sherpa villages, yaks, pandas, and monkeys. Enjoy yak cheese and talk with locals to learn more about Himalayan life. 

6. Lumbini

Lumbini the birthplace of Siddhartha, aka the Buddha. A pilgrimage place for Buddhists and a place you want to take at least a full day to explore. Enjoy beautiful temples and tranquil scenery. 

7. Gokyo Lakes

Gokyo Lakes located at the head of the Dudh Kosi Valley, the hike to the Gokyo Lakes is a great alternative to the popular Everest trail. Enjoy life-changing views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks and crystal blue lakes. 

8. Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur is a medieval city most known for its wood carvings. Rich culture, ancient temples, and a brilliant backdrop of snow-capped mountains.

9. Annapurna Circuit

Annapurna Circuit is a famous trek for hikers and one of the most traveled routes in Nepal. Travel through valleys, dense moss filled forests, icy waterfalls, and beautiful small towns. 128 miles of trekking in magnificent landscapes with shorter options available.
