The importance of environmental protection as part of sustainable travel cannot be overemphasized enough. Not only is environmental protection important to assuring the best places to travel are still around in the future, it is essential to assuring the well-being of local communities and, above all, to our very survival as human beings. While protecting the environment at home has become commonplace to many (although, sadly, not nearly as much as it should), our impact on the planet is just as important, if not more, when we are traveling.

When traveling, we tend to utilize different forms of transport, eat out more often and, in general, produce more waste than in our day-to-day at home. Add on to that the fact that you are stepping into someone else’s home and protecting the environment while moving around becomes all the more important. But how does environmental protection differ on the road from home? What should you do differently to become a more conscientious traveler?

Dunia Unificada has put together this guide to help you be better at protecting the environment while you globetrot around the world. We have included top tops, best environmentally sustainable companies and stories of people doing awesome things to make sure our globe is healthy and beautiful for generations to come. We want to make sure that you travel sustainably. As with the rest of our site, this section is a work in progress.
